How to publish error-free Excel files - every time

Everyone makes mistakes in Excel - that’s unavoidable. But publishing error-free reports is a must to protect your credibility.

My mentors taught me a 5-check system to find any mistakes:

#1 Checksums - recalculate results differently to see if it ties

#2 Formula View - show all formulas to find inconsistencies

#3 Spot Checks - trace strategically selected cells to the origin

#4 Story Check - look at the big picture, not at individual cells

#5 Waterfalls - explain variances to a previous version or period

I know this may sound a bit theoretical. It’s easier if I show you how to run the five checks live in Excel.

I’ll give you an exercise file full of errors to practice with. Then you'll get feedback on how you did to perfect the techniques.

Join my live online course FP&A Bootcamp to do just that.
