3 ways how Finance Business Partners can improve visibility of results

Creating visibility of financial performance is one of the major objectives of FP&A business partnering.

Here’s what I learned works best to achieve it:

1) Ask what metrics your business partners would like to see in an ideal world.

Sometimes, people think certain things are impossible to know simply because they don’t currently have them.

2) Ask what your colleagues would need to know to predict their main metrics.

That can give you ideas on which leading indicators could predict financial results.

3) Consider providing the most actionable metrics on a weekly instead of just a monthly basis.

Increasing the frequency of reporting makes it easier to spot a change in trends early enough to do something about it.
